2. What we have been trying to share with you, is that there is a science to self motivation. There is a way to make that motivation PERMANENT, based upon the findings from neuroscience research. Most of these discoveries, which are very revolutionary, just came down in the last four to six years. We have taken these facts and scientific concepts, and applied them to principles of self development, achievement and self motivation.
3. We're going to cover here, what I believe to be the 50 most important brain science lessons that you can use to reach your greatest achievements and success, through the development of permanent self motivation skills.
4. These Lessons all have come out of the books and research studies that we've read in just the last four to six years. And all those Readings are listed in our Bibliography. It is in the annotated version that we have all of our notes; all of our written findings from those books and research studies. 5. All the writings contained therein deal with the fascinating discoveries about how the human brain works, and all the new things they have found out about the brain that they did not know before. It is phenomenal information that will help you tremendously on your journey to your greatest achievements.
6. First, we want to take a short review and overview of the things that you learned have learned so far.
7. First, no matter whether you are young or old, your brain can physically grow more DSPs every single time you attempt to learn something new. This is called brain plasticity, and throughout your life you can greatly increase the number of neuron connections that you have in your brain; no matter what your age; no matter what your previous belief about the capacity of your brain to learn and to new think.
8. Secondly, the more you send a message or thought down the same Neuron path, the easier it becomes for that same message to go down that path again and again. In other words, firing threshold of those neurons are lowered making it easier for them to fire. The synaptic connections are strengthened, the more you repeat something so that those neuron patterns will remain in your brain much longer, Nearly Permanently. The more you go down those pathways the easier it is and the more AUTOMATIC it is for you to take things down that path again. And don't forget what we’re going for here, is automatic nearly permanent self motivation skills.
9. It can be automatic because it is being done at the nonconscious level of your brain. The nonconscious Cerebral cortex region of the brain contains 5/6, that's 83 percent of all of your brain's power. It’s at this nonconscious level. Remember we found last time that your brain thinks on six levels at once and 5/6th of that brain is that your nonconscious level. Therefore 5 6th of your Brain Operates AUTOMATICALLY seven days a week three 365 days a year. And it always follows your directions exactly. It is extremely powerful.
10. It is not restrained by reality. There are no neuron impulses filters to send out messages to your memory banks in your brain to give meaning to what you're thinking about. You are not aware of what you are thinking about at the non conscious level. Therefore your nonconscious, extremely powerful portions of your brain, can function automatically and very very quickly, once they've been properly exercised and trained. Your nonconscious brain will automatically always tried to give you the answer to every message that you send it.
11. Therefore your nonconscious brain, being so powerful, it literally can create into reality what your imagination at this nonconscious level has been thinking about Your most dominant thoughts will become your reality.
12. The more you believe about something the more willing your brain is and the more physically able your brain is to accept ideas that are similar to what you believe. You see the more you believe about something the more willing you will be to accept ideas that are similar. The more you believe about something the more you send neuron impulses patterns down your neurodes easier and easier each time. The more information you have in your filing cabinet that tells something about yourself then the more you will attract and accept other ideas that support that same idea. That's called Belief, Learning and Success.
13. Therefore the longer you buy into an idea the more it becomes like the truth, and the more it becomes the truth. Scientifically and automatically.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Number One. Your thoughts, have biophysiological electrical properties. Therefore your thoughts will affect every single cell in your body physically. Thoughts are real. They are actual physical things that can be seen. Therefore if you can learn how to control these physical properties such as the way you control the movement of your hand which is very physical, then you will learn to control your thoughts. And if you can learn to control your thoughts, you therefore can control your beliefs, your actions, and your future.
Number Two. Every single memory that you have ever had is perfectly and for ever stored in minute exact detail in the nonconscious areas of your brain.
That means that every single experience you have ever had is perfectly stored in your nonconscious brain. Now I must admit that there still is some controversy over the belief of this fact. But based on the evidence that I have seen, I believe this to be correct scientifically. One set of experiments that they did was with subjects who were bricklayers that were put into a deep hypnosis. They were then asked to explain exactly where a particular brick that they have l aid more than 10 years before where that brick was exactly in a building that they had helped build. Every single time the bricklayers knew exactly where those bricks were some 10 years later. Your memories are perfect memories so if this is correct that your memories are perfect memories stored in your non conscious brain; then any answer or solution that comes to you from your non conscious brain is based upon these perfect memories. So it’s very probable that the answer or solution can you very much rely on, because it is not tainted by our misconceptions of reality or what our conscious thoughts are. They need it to be trusted. You will learn in a later seminar about our nine Science for Success techniques. One of those Techniques is teaching you how to "Trust the Darkness". This is what we're talking about when we get to that technique. You must learn to trust the solutions and answers that come to you from the darkness of your nonconscious mind because those answers are based upon perfect memories. So if you can learn to trust those answers that come up to you from your nonconscious Darkness, intuition, gut feeling, you are guaranteed automatically, scientifically to increase your success and achievement .
Number Three. All meaningful change within your brain always first starts as a falsehood, an imagination, or a visualization.
This is always true before it works its way into your reality or conscious levels of your brain. How you use this extremely powerful Brain tool is very very important. Once you vividly imagine an experience, once you give your brain instructions to imagine, visualize, create; this will become your reality until you make a conscious effort to displace it. This is how habits are formed. We will teach you how to learn to control this so that your habits are success habits. Please notice that I said they start as a falsehood; they are not the truth; yet they don't need to be the truth in the beginning. Your nonconscious brain can't tell the difference between truth or a lie. Everything taken in, is taken as a truth. So any change you ever want to make must FIRST Start as an imagination. This initiation as a falsehood is a very important lesson to learn.
Number Four. You don't always need a positive attitude but rather you need to give yourself positive cognitive therapy.
When we act, how we act is based on our beliefs. Our beliefs are based on how we feel about a given thing or event. How we feel is based upon exactly what we thought in the beginning. Even if you don't feel positive, even if you don't have a positive attitude, you must THINK positive thoughts and this will scientifically automatically change the way you feel to positive but you don't have to pretend to First feel positive. You don't always have to feel positive to think positive. It's hard to feel positive when you're having bad weather. But you can still think positive. And you must start this at the conscious cognitive level. These thoughts then will create your reality in your feelings.
Number Five. What you must Absolutely do it in your brain before you take any action on any project or you are doomed to failure. What is it?
You must FIRST visualize that activity before you take any action every day for five days 7 days 10 days up to two weeks before you take any action you must visualize how you are going to act. See how you're going to act. Hear how you're going to act and think how you are going to act. Every time you practice in your mind an action that you want to take; if that is good practice, it is creating excellent neuron pathway patterns that will make it very easy for the correct neuron impulse firings to go down that same pathway once you undertake to act. This is been clearly shown to be important by some recent research. Your brain in a pet scan has been shown to light up in the same area meaning that there is activity in a given area of your brain; wether you are seeing a picture of Snoopy the dog, whether you are asked to simply visualize a picture of Snoopy the dog, or wether you actually see Snoopy the dog. The same area of your brain is being used for each purpose. Therefore before you undertake to act; if you visualize that action you will create better connections in your brain. And when you do undertake to act, it will be easier for your nerve impulse firings to go down those correct pathways. You have always heard that to be successful in many things you need to practice, practice, practice. Of course this is true. But before you start your practice you must first visualize that practice- visualize that activity- within your brain, so that the neuron connections are there ready and waiting when you physically undertake the actual event or activity. Your likelihood for success is exponentially enhanced by doing this. You are much more likely to fail a given task if you have not first practice that task in your mind. Do not tell this to any of your competitors this is the champions competitive edge. We see this all the time in the athletic world. Every professional golfer I've ever talk to from Jack Nicklaus to Tiger Woods has told me that they always visualize their shots and swings in their mind over and over again. To avoid failed efforts before you even start no matter how hard you tried, you must first practice in your brain. The more it goes down and neuron pathway the easier it is to go down that pathway again and I ask you: “Is it easier to create that correct neuron pathway by visualizing it or by actually doing the activity? Grease the wheel as they say.
Number Six. Use it or lose it! The scientific basis for maintaining full function of your Aging Brain.
It is very clear now in the scientific literature that if you stop using certain neuron pathways in your brain, they literally will atrophy and come unconnected just like your muscles do and get weaker and weaker. The pathways will get overgrown like we discussed in our last seminar and it will be much more difficult for you to send neuron impulses messages down those pathways if it has been a long time since any messages have gone down those pathways. It’s extremely important that as we get older we continue to exercise all of the neuron patterns within your brain. There are many things that you can do to accomplish this. My brother who's been an engineer, a research engineer for over 40 years came to me and said Doug, “I am worried about losing some of my memory. And I said to him what you must do is, you must every day exercise your brain. He said, “I am a research engineer I correctly exercise my brain everyday!” I suggest to you that when you do that you only exercise certain neuron roadway patterns as an engineer. You need to exercise all of your neuron patterns in your brain do other things that exercise your brain besides thinking about engineering. Do crossword puzzles. Anything. My brother subscribes to I think over 20 magazines. Take one of those magazines each night and read a page upside down and backwards. Anything that you can think of to exercise as many of your Neurons as you can. Take a look at our bibliography. There are a number of books in that bibliography that have exercises for your brain. Do things that you don't normally do every day to exercise your brain. For example when you’re getting ready for work in the morning, one or two days a week do that completely with your non-dominant hand; your toothbrush: your hair everything with your non dominant hand one or two days a week. Try to find things in the House with your eyes closed; reach for the shower faucet; reach for your car keys; find the ignition in your car with your eyes closed. Help your brain to exercise itsself. One of the our strongest senses is our sense of smell; so once or twice a week close your eyes and have your wife or husband place things under your nose for you to smell. Then you have to determine what those items are just by their smell and I don't mean foods; Many other items: glasses, water bottle, pencils, staplers, cell phone; anything to exercise those neurons.
Number Seven. How to scientifically ALTER YOUR THINKING and eliminate failure. And let's do Number Eight right here with this: Number Eight is procrastination does not exist. The scientific proof.
Is in these two lessons that I will come as close to a motivational cliché as I would ever like to come. We like to base our systems on science not cliché. But we want to give you a very important statement here that is about as close as I will come.
You as a human being, cannot physically possibly be a failure. It is impossible for a human being to be a failure. Can you fail? Absolutely! Meaning you can attempt a task and fail to accomplish it but you have failed at that task; you are not a failure. Once you have failed at a task, immediately send neuron messages down the pathways to determine what did this, what caused you to fail at that task; and your nonconscious will send you answers to correct that failed task. It might take a little while! But if you do this, you then can not be a failure. You will never be a failure so long as you learn each time you fail at a task. In fact, neuron pathways are being created each time you fail a task. In fact ask your brain to send you messages tp correct that failed action. So frankly, it's impossible to be a total success until you have first failed at the task. To be a great success, you need to fail quickly and many many times. Therefore be EXCITED each time you fail. No, its not that you are a failure but that you are going to be better after each failed task, that you learn from. Failing is exciting. The only way a baby learns to walk is by failing.
Now what about procrastination?. What we actually do is very simply choose one activity over another activity. And if we choose one activity over another, the other activity that we don't do is left behind. And some people call that procrastination. It is not. It is simply making a choice. So stop beating yourself up for making choices. We're going to tell you in little bit a method that I call the final four which is a technique that I call “losing the final four” that you can use so that you will never again be faced with this issue of blaming yourself for being a Procrastinator. Forget it! Get over it! I’ll tell you about that lesson in a bit and you will realize that procrastination has bogged you long enough.
Number Nine. Habituation and SENSITIZATION.
If you learn these two scientific tools you will increase your productivity 280% within a month. Now I have no clue frankly where I got that 280%, I don’t know...but you know what, I think you can't triple your productivity if you learn this concept of habituation and sensitization. It goes back to one of the very first things I said tonight habituation comes from the word Habit. A habit is something that you do over and over again. What does this mean scientifically? Your thoughts have actual Biological Physical Properties. So what ever you continue to do that is a habit is because you are continuing to send neuron impulses down the same neurode pathways in your brain. Why does it go down that same pattern so easily because your Repetition has reduced the firing threshold and has made it easier for the impulse to travel that pathway. Because you've used that road time and time again. Whatever habits you have, you become de-sensitized. The more you do something the less sensitive you are. So what you need to do is to consciously consciously make an effort to be sensitive to when you are going to go down those neuron patterns so that you can redirect those neurons. We’ll learn more about this later but you must understand that there is a process when you are sending those thoughts down the same neurode pattern. Now if we are talking about bad habits that you don't want to control you anymore, you have become de- sensitized to those habits and the neuron patterns that cause those habits. You have got to be resensitize. We must be aware of these neuron patterns so that we can rechannel them. You're not going to break bad habits, but you certainly can re-direct them, to learn new and positive habits. How long does it take to learn a new habit? It takes about 30 days. It takes about 30 days to form new DSP connections in your brain and to go down those neuron patterns enough in 30 days, so that those neuron patterns will fire almost automatically after that. This will be open new habits in 30 days.
Number Ten. DISCOMFORT is required.
What does this mean? Well you have heard the expression “I am out of my comfort zone”. Scientifically it means this: you have a part of your brain called the amygdala. The amygdala senses anxiety and stress levels in your body. When it does, it will order your glands to release stress hormones, sometimes called neuro transmitters, to either counteract that stress, or to prepare you for the stress. Of course in the early days of man, stress levels were very high. If early man's brain did not react quickly to stress the result was Usually death from physical threat. But now today, stress is not from physical dangers but from anxiety and mental stress and dangers. But we still have the release of those stress hormones. Our brains evolution has not caught up with our cultural evolution yet. When you have the release of stress hormones, physically, biologically, that makes you feel un comfortable. That is an absolute known physiological response. And that's a good thing. Iit makes you more alert! That's how we evolved. So here is what this means today: When you feel uncomfortable and you are out of your comfort zone that is the time that you need to get really excited. If you are uncomfortable, you know that you are growing and learning something new, because your neurons are traveling down pathways that they are not familiar with and it has caused your Amygdala to interpret that as a stressful situation and cause the release of these neurotransmitters. Get excited that you get out of your comfort zone. Because successful people, are those people who are constantly doing things that they are not sure they know how to do. This is one of my BENCHisms. To be successful you must get out of your comfort zone and and now that you have the knowledge, how and the why, you can get excited by that event, not frightened by. Understand what is happening in your body.
Number Eleven. DISCOMFORT can grow into fear if not recognized and understood.
You see, we don't want to get so far out of our comfort zone that we create fear. The more fearful and stressful that you are the greater the amount of neurotransmitters that your Amygdala will order released. With large amounts of neurotransmitters opposed to just a small amount, this can negate what you can learn when you're out of your comfort zone. Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing in this sense. Too much release of hormones or neurotransmitters can freeze your action. And inhibit or interfere with the transportation of nerve impulses down those new pathways. When this happens, it of course will inhibit or even stop your actions. How do you counteract this? You must be sensitive to and aware of this so that you take small steps out of your comfort zone rather than large leaps; so that you can be successful without being fearful.
Number Twelve. Fear blocks action!
This is not a psychological phenomenon; this is not an emotional phenomenon; its a scientific phenomenon! And over at the amygdala it can cause the release of so many neurotransmitters that it will inhibit the transportation of the neurons and impulses across the synaptic gaps. When this happens action is terminated. It will cause you to freeze up. Guess what overcomes fear and its partner Procrastination? ANY physical movement or action. Please notice that I said ANY movement or action. Now how does this work scientifically? When you get in a dis- comfortable state, the amygdala sends a message to your glands to release more neurotransmitters, a small release of neurotransmitters is good. It makes you think better it makes you act better sort of greases the wheels in the Synaptic matter so the impulses travel better. But if those hormones become too much, then that will slow down neuron transportation and freeze your actions. But guess what! If you go ahead and act in any way, not even directly toward your goal but in any action or movement in any direction including retreat; the release of the hormone epinephrine or Adrenaline, that is what is caused called the “fight or flight” hormones and that gets into your muscles and allows people to do the super human effort such as the woman who could lift the car off of her daughter that's because of this adrenaline rush. Therefore if you CHANNEL the release of those neurotransmitters and hormones into your muscles where they can be used up, rather than used to inhibit your neuron impulse transportation, then you will reduce the needle to below the fear level and you can take action. Number Thirteen. Action follows the laws of physics.
Newton’s law applies here. The Law of conservation of momentum: whenever there is an action there is always an equal and opposite reaction. A body at rest will tend to remain at rest. A body in motion will tend to remain in motion. You've all heard of that. Now let's put this into practice relative to the human brain, your brain. Neuron impulses in motion tend to stay in motion. When you fire neuron patterns more and more they become easier to fire. Action requires movements or a reaction in the brain which will cause other neurons to fire and lower the firing threshold like a large snowball the was born from a small snowball. Action follows physics.
Number Fourteen The first thing that helps you overcome procrastination was action. The second thing that helps you overcome procrastination (fear) is knowledge. Your Cerebral cortex can override the other parts of your brain, the automatic parts of your brain that released the stress hormones if you have knowledge how your brain works, and the knowledge of how to reach your goals, can overcome the AUTOMATIC actions in your reptilian brain and the stress hormones will not be released at high levels.
Number Fifteen. You cannot break bad habits. Habits are nothing more than certain neuron patterns repetitiously re-firing in your brain time and time again> How do you break up that habit. You can't. Well I guess you could. The only way that you could would be to physically break the connection between these neurons Hit yourself in the head with a brick, that will break some of your neuron connections and if you're lucky it might break some of your bad habit connections. That might not be the best way to change a habit. You can't break down those neuron pathways but you certainly can change them. How do you break bad habits? You replace what you have. You can replace them by becoming sensitive to what is going on in your brain so that you can channel these impulses as they start down the old pathways and turn that impulse in a different direction to create a new habit. But you must be sensitive to what is going on and what you are doing’
Number Sixteen. Your Prefrontal Cortex.
This is the most evolved area of the brain. Any time you make a mistake there are neurons fired in your Prefrontal Cortex. This happens automatically by your brain to help you discover and form a memory experience is to determine what went wrong. If your focus on your goals; become sensitize to your goals, whenever you make a mistake, your neuron firings in the Prefrontal Cortex will help you find out how you’ll need to redirect your firing patterns to fix that mistake if you are focused on your goals. So if you want to put your Prefrontal Cortex to its most efficient and productive use, you must remain focused on your goals, put them in writing, focus on what you want. Don't focus on what you don't want. It must be a positive positive don't forget that. And remember what I said to be successful you must “fail fast forward”. So if you stay focused on your goals, when you make a mistake or " fail", you can learn from that so that when, as you move forward those mistakes are corrected on your way to success and achievement. Number Seventeen, is not a Neuroscience Lesson, it is a book that I'm going to recommend to you. It is a fantastic book you can order on Amazon. com. It's only about 10 or $12. This book is entitled Change Your Brain- Change Your Life it is written by Dr. Daniel __________ He and he is an M.D. and it's a fantastic book that you should all get and read if you are serious about changing the way you do things and to be permanently self motivated.
Number Eighteen. When you form a mental image of something, the visual area of your occipital cortex is more active, as if you had actually had seen that object. The very same portion of your brain is active when you are thinking about an object as when you actually see that object. This has been proven with PET scanners and clearly indicates that Visualization is an exercise to practice Practice. Practice achievements when you visualize your goals in your brain it will help you reach your goals because those thoughts, those visualizations, are real they have physical properties and they act in the same areas of your brain as when you actually commit to that act. THEREFORE YOU MUST see your goals on our regular basis. If your goal is a brand new BMW convertible then you need to go down and see it, smell it, drive it, even if only in a picture, because every time you do, you are activating the parts of your brain, the same parts of your brain that will go to work to get you that goal
Number Nineteen. 5/6TH of your brain is the nonconscious level of your brain.
When your nonconscious brain sends you and answer up to your conscious level, that answer is based on perfect memories and therefore you need to trust that answer. Iit is much more likely that that answer will come, it may be an answer to a problem you're facing it may be an idea to make money, it may be an idea to deal with your children what ever that answer is, it typically will come to you when you are consciously not making an effort to find that answer, that clutters things up when you send all those neuron impulse filters down into the depths of your nonconscious memory banks. Let it work. Clear your mind. Then the best anser WILL COME TO you. I had a professional engineer tell me in a seminar that when ever he was faced with a structural design problem that he needed to find an answer for, the answer always came to him when he was not literally looking for that answer and here is the big thing about this: when that answer comes to you, up to the conscious level of your cortex, that answer is initially placed into short term memory storage, Man is that the bummer. Why? Because if you don't act on it immediately or write it down or somehow commit it to your long term memory banks then that answer will disappear from your neuron connections within 30 seconds. So when that answer is coming to you at a very inconvenient time its possibly gone in a poof You must get into long term memory this will make you 500% more productive if you do this. You must have with you at all, all-times always to take your thoughts from short-term memory and put them down into some form of storage, either pencil and paper or a digital voice recorder or some other means keeping a record of all those ideas that come to you. I use a recorder that can store up to 22 hours of information. You must have this every single one of you I have no question in my mind every single one of you have had probably a dozen or more ideas, that have come into your mind that if put in the long term memory and acted on would have made you a millionaire. But it is a physiological phenomena and that when those ideas come to you from the nonconscious they are put in short-term memory and if you do not take action to permanently store that thought or idea it will be gone in an instant. Get yourself a brain suggestion box. A digital recorder pen and paper by your nightstand what ever it is get it This is pure gold advice! Scientific advice! Your nonconscious brain is working 24 hours a day whether you're awake or sleeping. You must put these ideas in the long term memory it has nothing to do with your age it has nothing to do with how much you Drank it has nothing to do with how much attention you pay it is a physiological fact that things placed in short-term memory will be lost unless you are sensitized and make a focused effort to place them in long term storage. How can you automatically put things into long term memory in your brain? Repetition Associations Emotion all these things will do that for you; but if you are busy at the time this answer comes you cannot Repeat Repeat Repeat or associate. Therefore you must have some external mechanism to store THESE IDEAS UNTIL you can put it into your long term memory. This advice here is one of the top three pieces of advice that I can possibly give you based on the neuroscience of success Listen to this. I want read you something this was written by Stephen Covey. He wrote the book “7 Habits of Highly Effective People”. You remember that book. Here is something he wrote, “It has been established that every year driving to and from work, the average person has about four ideas for improvements; anyone of which could make that person a millionaire if they acted upon that idea. It’s not because of procrastination, fear or any other factor that keeps people from acting on these; it's because they don't remember them and that is not a shortcoming is a scientific fact. Get yourself a tape recorder now. You are not stupid. You are not slow. You do not have a bad memory. It's just that we did not understand our brain before now! You do!!
Number Twenty. The nonconscious portion of your brain will automatically develop plans and Ideas to develop and realize your dominant thoughts at the conscious level. This is done automatically! But don't forget what ever you think about most whatever you concentrate on the most, what ever you focus on the most, your nonconscious brain, 5/6 of your brain's power; 24/7 is always looking to bring you good ideas to realize those dominant thoughts. But these thoughts go into short term memory at your conscious level. Solution: see #19
Number Twenty-One. It is amazingly empowering to have the support of a strong motivated, inspirational group of people surrounding you. Now we all know this, but let's take a look at it from scientific point of view. One of the reasons that people feel so good at a positive thinking seminar or rally or meeting, is because they are surrounded by Positive like-thinking people. These people are constantly reaffirming the best in each other. Listen to this very carefully. We as human beings crave PRAise. Why? From a scientific point of viewpoint? If you’re GIVEN Praise you are fulfilling a need call by the psychologists, a self-actualization need. And if you are fulfilling a self-actualization need, it reduces the level of stress within your brain, and guess what the amygdala does? It acts upon this comfort and orders the release by your glands, endorphins, which is another neurotransmitter or hormone, end endorphins are the pleasure hormones. This sensation that this creates from the brain and to your body is one of pleasure, Wharmth, satisfaction, so you literally will feel better physically when people are praising you, and that will make it much easier to go down the positive positive pathways. So it is very important that you surround yourself with like-thinking people. You must avoid the negative crocodile thinkers. Sometimes unfortunately those are our very own house-mates and loved ones. But you can't change them, you can only change you and your surroundings. We will talk more about this in another lesson. One of the best ways to do this is create a MASTERMIND group. This would be a group of like-thinking people who brainstorm together once a week once a month whatever you choose. And to praise the activities of each other and if they supply any criticism at all, it is in the form of a positive positive, a form of encouragement rather than cynical, ridiculed, or negative language and pictures. This will have a tremendous impact upon your body and your brain’ss ability to create the reality you desire. Number Twenty-Two Optimism is a learned habit and can be permanently acquired.
YOUR not born an optimistic person. You were not born a pessimistic person. Its a learned technique via brain plasticity and notice I said a habit. Optimism can be a habit by continuously forcing yourself to send nerve impulses down neuron pathways so that any future thoughts regarding Optimism can go down those pathways easier and automatically that is the definition of a habit when something occurs automatically. The firing threshold will be lowered the connections will be stronger and greater and after about 30 days you won't have to force yourself to be optimistic anymore it will become automatic and Habit.
Number Twenty Three. Brain PLASTICITY
Your brain is constantly reshaping itself and changing on a daily basis. This occurs from the day you are born until the day you pass on. This means that you can learn at any age in your life any challenge that you have can be corrected. In fact listen to this, your body, that includes everything from the top of the head to the tip of the toes, no part of your body has any cells within it that are more than 10 years old! Every single cell that you have in your body has re-generated, rejuvenated itself over that 10 years. Literally every ounce of your very being right now today did not exist 10 years and a day ago. So Absolutely you can learn new things absolutely your brain is changing on a daily basis. There is no longer any such excuse as I can't help it but that's just the way I am. You are brand new. You can change your future by changing your brain. How you change your brain? By changing your thoughts.
Number Twenty Four. All actions and impulses within your nonconscious brain are AUTOMATIC actions. All neurons firing all neurode pathways in your nonconscious brain are automatic. 5/SIXTH of your brain power is automatic. And it takes action based upon your dominant thoughts. So surround yourself with visions of your goals, make them your dominant thoughts; feel them, touch them, hear them, and your nonconscious brain will take over to create good answers, good ideas, good solutions, good actions, for you to reach your dominant thoughts-goals. Motivation Automation this is our term for it. Your goals! Get yourself to the point where your thoughts become automatic so that 5/6th of your brain will automatically every day and night be working toward your goals for your. All By itsself. Without you having to force yourself to do it. It becomes AUTOMATIC. Have you ever noticed how all successful people seem to be totally devoted to their goals? How they seem to be totally surrounded by their goals? PICTURES. Get yourself surrounded by your goals and it will create automatic help in your nonconscious brain.
Number Twenty-Five. Meaning in the brain comes from patterning.
There are patterns of neuron connections in your brain, billions of them that are all related in space and time, perfectly stored as perfect memories. Allowing these ideas to come up from the depths and darkness of your non conscious neurons to your conscious level on a regular basis based upon your dominant thoughts, will create success.. Trust the darkness. Wait for these answers. Do not create stress trying to force the answer, that will inhibit the transportation of those ideas to your conscious level. Remember too much fear can freeze the transportation of nerve impulses. Trust the Darkness. Relax and wait for the answer and it will come to you from your nonconscious level.
Number Twenty Six. This one is not totally scientific, but I want to make you aware of it so you don't constantly beat yourself up about this. We as human beings have spent so much of our life disciplining others, that we have not formed the neuron pathway patterns to discipline ourselves very well. Most people will tell you that they lack self discipline. Well you know what? This is normal. This is evolutionary. A NORMAL phenomenon. It is very common. Because we have not developed the neuron patterns to discipline ourself. So don't create a negative picture of yourself as a result of this. Understand it, ACCEPT IT, and overcome it. How? Practice Practice Practice.
Number Twenty-Seven. Memory networks must be constantly stimulated.
Otherwise those connections will weaken, firing threshold will increase due to the build up of calcium deposits almost scarlike tissue, and this is what we call “forgetting”. So if you forget something its because the neuron networks for that thought had not been stimulated, regularly. And this goes for creating new neuron patterns for self discipline as well. Practice Practice Practice.
Number Twenty-Eight. This is not a scientific idea but another book. It is called “A Celebration of Neurons” the author's name is Dr. Robert Sylwester. Dr. Sylwester is a professor at the University of of California or Oregon, and he has taken a look at the brain as it relates to education and how to improve education based on neuroscience. He is starting to do something similar to what we are doing in the area of success and achievement-- he is applying the discoveries of Neuroscience to Learning and education programs. Therefore it would be an extremely good book for you read because the two ideas are very very parallel. Whenever I read that book which I often do, over and over again, I get very warm and fuzzy feelings from that book goosebumps feelings. The release of endorphins feelings. It is that good It makes me realize I can do anything that I want or think I can..
Number Twenty-Nine. The more often you have a thought, the more easily that thought passes from one neuron pattern connection to another.
You've heard that before. Thoughts can become habits as the connection between neuron cells strengthens. So the more you repeat a thought the more likely it is to become a habit and the easier that thought passes down your neuron patterns but don't forget this, which is why we brought this up again year at No. 29, it works both ways.Negative/bad habits are also strengthened the more you fire those neurons. So you've got to channel those neuron impulses and turn off on a detour into a positive finishing thoughts. Otherwise you will make negative thoughts a habit. This is a double-edged sword use it for the positive. Use it to re-channel your negative habits.
Number Thirty. Feelings are physical reactions to a thought.
If you have a feeling about something, it is a physiological reaction to thoughts that you are having. A cry, a blush, a red-faced embarrassment, is a feeling that is in response to a thought that you had. Therefore people don't make you unhappy. People can't make you unhappy because being unhappy is a feeling and feelings are reactions to thoughts that YOU have! So is within your brain that you create your feelings based upon your thoughts. YOU make YOURself unhappy by your thoughts. So to be a healthy person you must think differently. For example. The woman came into the kitchen where her husband was at the kitchen table when she said “Oh that Dr. Smith makes me so angry! Her husband said to her, “Well where is he? I don't see him. Did he ride home with you in the car? Is he in the living room is he hiding in the closet? Because I don't see him and you left work three hours ago. So it must not be Dr. Smith that is making you angry, it must be you your brain that's making you angry. Feelings are physical reactions to thoughts. So change your thoughts, and you will change your feelings automatically.
Number Thirty-One I'm going to give you an excerpt from a book, a book that I will not recommend that you buy because it is extremely expensive, however you may want to check it out of the library the book is entitled “The Owner's Manual for the Brain”. It’s written by Dr. Pierce Howard, he is a medical doctor. In that book, there is a statement that is very important. The book states: “There is scientific evidence that talking in and of itsself, promotes positive hormone releases. So the very act of talking which is a form of thinking in of itself releases Positive Neuro-transmitters or hormones in your brain. So if you have a friend or family member who needs cheering up or if it's you do that needs cheering up: Very simply just get them engaged in conversation and it really doesn't even matter what that conversation is, any form of conversation will cause the release of these positive neurotransmitters no matter whether this Talking is active or passive
Number Thirty-Two. You can Act your way to success.
You can motivate yourself by ACTING like a motivated person, Even though at your conscious level you may realize you are not yet a motivated person it does not matter. Act like one! If you act a certain way 5/6th of your brain does not know that it is only an act.5/6 of your brain believes everything that gets to it. It is only your conscious level only 1/6th of your brain power than knows the real facts. And which is more powerful? THE 5/6TH! However, you perceive that a motivated person WOULD ACT.... you act that way and you will automatically become, over time, a motivated person! fAKE IT UNTIL YOU MAKE IT! A good old cliché that is scientifically real.
Number Thirty-Three. I was reading an article the other day in a Time magazine what was on an airplane, regarding Sigmund Freud. As you know most TRUE neuroscientists THINK Sigmund Freud was a fraud and that most of his ideas were not realistic. However based on some of the New neuroscience discoveries, we're finding that maybe Freud wasn't totally wrong about things. One of the things that Sigmund Freud said was that we as human beings are starved for praise. The Human animal craves recognition and praise. Well now they're thinking that maybe Freud wasn't so wrong about this; that this idea may have a basis in fact in the physiology of the brain. And we've mentioned it before if you are GIVEN Praise and thank you’s, positive neurotransmitters are released, endorphins are released which creates good feelings. Good feelings in turn create higher levels of self confidence- higher levels of self esteem, which will create greater levels of achievement in kind. But what if there are no people surrounding you who can give you these thank you’s and praise? Well guess what? If you are going to be self motivated, which is what we're after here, is to get you to be permanently self motivated so that you don't have to rely on outside sources for your motivation. Outside sources are temporarily only. They are temporary fixes. If you’re going to be self motivated you must be capable of self praise. You must learn to praise, thank, and reward yourself so set tiny goals also. Small goals. Small steps and praise yourself for reaching each of the steps and goals. Praise yourself for those triumphs. You yourself can cause the release of these endorphins. Endorphinic masturbation. Do it. Use it. You will not go blind! You will go to the top! Self recognition and self praise. Very important. And those little goals and local accomplishments don't even need to be related directly to your goals in order to create your higher levels of self actualization, self motivation, self praise. They can be in anything. You may think, " I'm going to have the floor swept before that TV show goes to the commercial " or I'm going to have the dishes put away before Mom gets the car in the garage " Every competition you set up for yourself and succeed at helps create higher levels of self confidence that can carry you to the top.
Number Thirty-Four. Worry is nothing more than negative visualizations.
Worrying about something is SEEING Pain. Visualizing negative results. Praying for what you don't want is a form of WORRY. From a neuron scientific point of view this is nothing more than a formed habit. You can change this habit. Redirect this habit away from those-visualizations you can channel it into a positive this solicitation. WORRY can be neuroscientifically understood, and neuroscientifically changed. It’s not in-born or permanent. It is simply a habit that you can detour into a positive habit. One way to do this is to create a positive positive picture and not a negative positive picture. “I will not overeat” vs “I am Thin and healthy and fit”.
Number Thirty-Five. INTERCEPT negative Thoughts before they are completed. This is called cognitive therapy. We will talk more about this in our nine Science for Success techniques. But frankly this cognitive positive recognition, is much more important then a positive attitude. So intercepting a negative thought, channeling them into a positive thoughts can surely change your brain's structure and makeup.
Number Thirty-Six. Optimistic people: those who have positive, positive visualizations; those who INTERCEPT Negative thoughts and turn into positive thoughts, have better body chemistry to fight disease and illness.
This has been scientifically medically proven. They have taken people with Optimistic tendencies and groups of people with pessimistic tendencies and measured their body’s capability to resist disease and have found that optimistic people are stronger and healthier than their pessimistic counterparts. How or why this works exactly they don't know yet, but we do know that it is true. ACT Optimistic and you will become optimistic. Be optimistic and you will be healthier.
Number Thirty-Seven. Evolution. Most of the neurons in your reptilian brain, provide space for the most connections relative to fear. That is evolution! You do not need to beat yourself up for over-emphasizing the negative and fear or worry that was in-born as a part of our evolution. Therefore do not beat yourself up over this. Recognize it and learn to overcome it. Channel it into a positive direction.
Number Thirty-Eight. The human brain needs more light in the earlier part of the day. AND your brain must state totally hydrated. The first part of this was in Robert Sylwester’s book. They found that students who were shown movies and slides first thing in the morning did not retain the information as well as students who were shown the same movies and slides after 12 noon, if all other things were equal. They're not quite sure why this is.... just is. So you should surround yourself with well lighted facilities during your morning hours for greater achievement. Part Two of No. 38 is also Very, very important. There have recently been just a few studies that have shown that your brain must be totally hydrated to function at its highest levels. In fact some recent studies have shown that if your brain is just 2% dehydrated this might cause a loss of up to one-third of the efficiency of the brain to transmit and transport nerve impulses. I translate this to mean that if your just 2% dehydrated you will lose the a third of your brain's power. The studies also show that if you were dehydrated just 5%, your brain lost half of its efficiency. Extremely important to stay totally hydrated throughout the day. Some schools now are allowing students to have a bottle of water on their desk at all times. We as adults should also follow this advice. The brain is up to 90% Water and the synaptic gap between DSP's and neurons is filled with a fluid mostly water, and therefore This synaptic junction must remain fully hydrated. Stay hydrated for full functionality
Number Thirty-Nine Practice Makes Perfect.
How many thousands of times have you heard that. Or heard the modern version of that which says perfect practice makes perfect. Well let's look at this from a scientific point of view. Because here comes some startling information yes practice does make perfect. If you practiced by visualizing, remember 5/6th of your brain cannot tell the difference between real and imagined, 5/6th of your brain can't tell if you're actually performing the task, seeing a picture of performing the task, or just thinking about performing the task. All those functions occur in the exact same area of your brain and you are practicing that area of the brain whether you are actually committing the act or thinking about it or seeing pictures about it Very very important. You are creating better neuron patterns and pathways by practicing practicing practicing and in review the more you repeat something the stronger those connections are, the lower the firing threshold is, the easier it is for those neuron patterns to fire. Practice makes perfect! AND it only requires an extra two to 5% of your time in additional practice to turn an average athlete, an average performer, into a champion. This is extremely important. Think of it. It only requires an additional 2 to 5% effort to go from an average or below average to the top 3 percent of the people in the world..... all of you can get to the top...
Number Forty. More than 90% of the people that go to a seminar, read a positive self-help book. or listen to i.e. a TeleSeminar, more than 90 percent of those people will see no improvement in your life as a result of that experience. I hope that is shocking to read. Over 90% of you who are either hearing this seminar or reading the book from this seminar or attending a short-term seminar of any nature, you will see no improvement in your personal development- your self motivation levels- or your achievement levels, because you do not and CAN NOT make long term physiological changes [IN YOUR BRAIN] in a 2 hour or two day seminar. How long dOES IT TAKE? Repetition for 30 days. If you expect your life to change after one weekend seminar or a book or a TeleSeminar, it will not happen for you. You must do more than this. You must implement what you have learned...for three to five weeks. Do not a allow yourself to quit before you get to your 30 days of implementation. The Learning goes in: you must flip the switch at your conscious level to make sure its Learned Permanently at Your non conscious level by committing to at least 30 days. There are lot of people frankly, who are in the self-help, motivational speaker, inspirational speaker, NETWORK, who do not know this scientific fact. Yet they are continuing to sell psych-pop CRAP to people and laughing all the way to the bank. Or else they just don't know that they’re not possibly having long term affect, unless their ideas are implemented for at least 30 straight days. That is crazy. Don't let that be you. Take this information and implement it! Remember it takes repetition, Association, and emotion, and the evidence indicates scientifically that it takes about 30 days of working on this every day, three to five times per day. Do not quit before your 30 days of applying these 50 Lessons of brain science. The Learning goes in, but you at the conscious level must flip the switch to make sure it gets burned in Permanently.
Number Forty-One. Race-Horses have not been improved their performance * in the last 80 years by more than 3%. You may ask, what in the heck does this have to do with Neuroscience for success in humans? Well let me tell you. Racehorses thoroughbred racehorses, going back 80 years to the days of Citation and even before have improved their times in the triple Crown races, they have not improved by more than 3 percent in those 80 years. Yet human beings in running races, the times have improved for humans up to 40%, depending upon the length of the race. Why such a difference? We certainly should know that by now. Humans have a cortex which allows them to think and Belief that they can. Horces cannot. Let's translate this to scientific terms. The how to do something will always come up from the non conscious levels of your brain. If you are a person who believes that you can do something. Why? Because it comes from your non conscious level, it will create beliefs, and if you practice Practice Practice, remember that your non conscious brain will bring into reality that which makes up your most dominant thoughts. If you don't know that you can you won't. If you know that you can, you will. Strong belief triggers the non conscious brain to automatically figure out ways to accomplish ALL tasks. Medicine, health techniques and training techniques for horses has improved as much as it has for humans. Yet their times have not.
Number Forty-Two. The power of continuous creation. This is another term for brain plasticity. We said that before but it's important. We've got to repeat it here. You have the power to continuously create new connections in your brain. Make them the good ones. There are no optimistic or pessimistic personalities no one is born an optimist or a pessimist, only individual optimistic or pessimistic choices are made by people that are based upon their thoughts. You have the power to continuously create Optimistic or Positive thoughts and changes in your brain.
Number Forty-Three. The amygdala is not your friend all the time. This is the portion of your brain that the detects how much emotion is traveling down your neuron patterns, and whether it needs to release, order the release of, additional hormones to your synaptic connections. These can be either excitatory or inhibitory neurotransmitters and that decision is made within the amygdala of your brain. About the size of an almond, in fact that is what the word means in Latin and they are located at the end of your hippocampus. Your Amygdala would prefer that you have no changes in your day-to-day activities. Your Amygdala doesn't like change. But it controls how your impulses are transmitted, and it wants to keep things at the same level all the time. So the amygdala’s instincts which have evolved over thousands of years, and which is located in your reptilian portion of your brain in an area called the limbic system, wants to keep an even keel for you. Therefore you must consciously choose at that conscious level to overcome that automatic tendency in your Amygdala, and you must flip that switch at your conscious level. There some other very strong studies going on regarding the amygdala and its relationship to release of neurotransmitters during emotional experiences. The more emotional an experience and the more emotional the neuron patterns the more release of neurotransmitters will occur by the amygdala in response to this emotion. And the more emotional U R when you learn something new, the stronger those connections will be and the longer lasting those connections will be and the easier it is for those connections to fire. When we get to the nine Science for Success techniques we will emphasize this again with that there are ways that you can increase capacity to learn and the amount that you do learn if you are aware of this emotional neurotransmitter release phenomena.
Number Forty-Four. By the time we are 40 years old we are applying less than two% of the measurable creativity and imagination that we demonstrated as children. This is a startling statistic. You have got to practice your creativity and visualization after you've reached the age of 40. You can practice creativity practice visualizations and this is a must if you're going to become a better problem solver and business leader. We have got to get that imagination back. What has happened scientifically? We should certainly know by now. The less you use certain neuron patterns the more overgrown those pathways become; the less likely it is that Neurons will travel down those pathways. Therefore you must take on at your conscious level an effort to trigger activities that will practice and exercise those creative neuron patterns. In the nine Science for Success techniques we call that “Turn on your VCR”. “Visualization CREATES REALITY”. WAYS that you can do this for example is to put on some instrumental music for about 10 minutes to listen to it with your eyes closed. And as you're listening to that music imagine a story or a movie scene on a movie screen that goes along with that music. Music as you know can be very emotional. You can almost tell by the tempo and rhythm and sound of music exactly what is happening in the movie. For example we want to take 10 minutes of music create in your mind this story that seems to be going along with the flow of that music. Do this every week if you can, because what your doing is you're practicing your ability to be creative. You are exercising the neuron patterns that are used for creativity. And then when you need these neuron patterns for a challenge that you're facing or problem that needs solving, those neuron patterns will be ready and strong and able to perform the task for you. We need to get back that other 98 percent of the imagination that we disconnected from when we left childhood. I would strongly encourage you when you practice this technique for creativity, that you write out the story that you're imagining in your mind right it out on sheets of paper. You will be amazed how it will increase your creative problem solving capacity.
Number Forty-Five. Your brain is always seeking patterns learned from previous experiences to give meaning and to project those patterns into new situations.
So we need to make those patterns positive. Your conscious brain is always sending out these neuron impulses filters down into your memory storage areas of your brain to give meaning, seeking patterns of neurons, from your past experiences, to give meaning to what situation you are currently thinking about or facing in reality. They don't know yet how your conscious brain automatically sends the signals down to get those neuron patterns, they just know that happens. If you go to a class reunion and you can't remember someone's name to go with their face you don’t have to order your neurons to go down in your memory storage areas to bring in that person's name. it happens automatically. It's not totally understood, but we do know that you are constantly seeking patterns from past experience to understand new experience. So if you are filled to the top with positive neuron patterns in your brain, your conscious Cortex will use those positive patterns to give meaning to a new neuron pattern. So you must accentuate and practice Practice PLASTIC Positive thoughts cause once you create these neuron patterns, your perceived reality becomes your reality and it is automatic for you. And do not forget those practice positive patterns don't even have to be the truth. Your brain will rely on them at the non conscious level to give meaning to your conscious realities as if they were the truth That is fantastic to remember.
Number Forty-Six. We’ve told you that your thoughts have biochemical and electrical properties. Physical Properties. THEREFORE then if your thoughts are physical, and your attitudes evolve from your thoughts, then your attitude is a physical skill rather than an emotion. So don't worry about feeling positive all the time. Concentrate rather on acting positive all the time, and remember it can be just an act and still be effective for you. This of course means don't concentrate on how you feel, concentrate on how you act and think. Do not Focus on what you don't want, focus on what you do want.
Number Forty-Seven. When you are under pressure, consentrate on the execution and not the results. What does this mean. Well if you are a golfer and you ever stood over at 3 foot putt for a $5 bet, you know what pressure is. The reason that that creates pressure, and stress, and the release of neurotransmitter hormones, is because your conscious brain, is concentrating on the result that you do not want. It is rare to miss the 3 ft. putt. So your brain is concentrating on what will happen to you if you were to miss the putt. Its concentrating on the result and remember that the brain sees only in PICTURES so to concentrate on not missing a 3 ft. putt the picture that your brain sees is missing a 3 ft. putt. Therefore when you are under pressure under stress you should not at all concentrate on the picture of the result but concentrate on the picture of how you execute that act or activity or Learning or ACHIEVEMENT in in our example the stroking of the putt rather than the result of the pot. If you concentrate on the execution the results will take care of themselves. Do not paint the picture of the negative result. And remember when your brain is under pressure or stress your Amygdala will order the release of neurotransmitters to handle that stress. And if your mental picture increases the level of that stress, what happens when we have too much stress hormones released it inhibits the firing of the neurons which causes in-action or improper action or the freezing in the headlight syndrome, which surely will result in a missed putt. When you're under pressure concentrate on the execution and not the result my young son who is studying at FSU to be professional golfer to this day when he is in the tournament or under pressure to make a short putt I can see his lips moved to the words clickety-clack because this is his signal to concentrate on the rhythm of the backswing and the follow-through instead of the result of the putt he's concentrating on the movement of the putter to the rhythm of clickety-clack so that he does not have to worry about seeing the mental picture of missing the pot. Number Forty-Eight. Look to see what everyone else is doing and then...do the opposite. I think it has a scientific basis. If others are doing it . don't. In other words, if you want to get to the top 2 percent of successful people at whatever your goal is. The vast majority will never get there. So what other people are concentrating on the result you don't. What other people are doing is probably the opposite of what you should it. It's not necessarily a question of taking the path less traveled. Its more a question of taking the path that is BEST traveled. In fact in neuroscience, of course you should never take the path less traveled. You should always be prepared in advance by a Repetition association and emotions to create an open pathway and easy pathway for the neurons to travel down. this idea is also evident in a Statement from Benjamin Franklin, “you will note with concern how long all useful TRUTHS are known and exist before they are generally received and practiced. This evidence that we're giving you about the neuroscience of success, is not being universally practiced. It one day will be, but it is not yet. Do not be one of those who is skeptical and does not accept this as scientific fact for your future. you can be light years ahead of your competition if you go a different way than the sheep. It is much more likely that if you are being ridiculed for applying these techniques, it is much more likely then that the techniques are correct. If everyone is doing something don't .... you be willing to do what others are not willing to do and you can reach the top 2% And totally accept responsibility for what you do and how you feel, and I guarantee you will make the top 3%.
Number Forty-nine. Can your environment make you smarter? I've put this in No. 49 slot even though this evidence is brand new and not yet verified by follow-up research. However I think the potential is tremendous. This is based on an article that appeared in the December issue of the newsletter on brain connection dot com. Brain connection dot com is a tremendous website that discusses brain functioning, brain research, and techniques to apply as a result of brain research. Use that website. But here's some research just published in December that indicates, they use rats in these experiments but I think certainly can apply the human beings, rats who were raised in the enriched environments had larger brains better functioning brains than rats who were not placed in these enriched environments. The theory being that brain plasticity is increased in and enriched environment. Now enriched doesn't mean rich in the sense of money or material things. And enriched environment means environment filled with opportunities and activities for Learning. Do not forget as well that brain plasticity is a scientific fact and it's a fact throughout your entire lifetime so constantly place yourself in enriched Environments FOR LEARNING no matter what your age. And of course if you are a parent this certainly is good advice for you as a parent in working with your children. No one is born a genius it is based on what can be develop during their lifetime that is most important.
Number Fifty. You must have techniques to implement the other 49 brain science lessons. If you read all the books in our bibliography you can learn to develop these techniques. Regardless of how you do it you must develop techniques...you must create the atmosphere for achievement. You must consciously flip the switch! The Nine Science for Success Techniques
9 Science for Success
Techniques
1.
Who are you? You must take a
two week inventory of how you talk to yourself, carry yourself, and react to
outside situations. Know what needs to change!
2.
Stomp the ANTZ! Learn how to
never again complete a negative thought, and how to properly turn toxins
into permanent positive neuron patterns.
3.
Mind for 'Goaled'. You must
set very specific WRITTEN goals. What do you want, and what results do you
want from what you want?!
4.
Innerstates. Create those
neuron connections. Set up Super-Mario's List!
5.
Trigger a Thunderstorm! It is
absolutely best to do your Innerstates and VCR, to form zillions of strong
permanent neuron connections when you have created a very emotional
atmosphere.
6.
Turn on your 'VCR'.
Visualization Creates Reality. You must regularly get some quiet time to
relax and visualize the results of your efforts. This will also develop your
problem-solving ability!
7.
Trust the Darkness. All of
your memories are perfectly stored in your brain. Answers that come to you
from your nonconscious neurons are perfect answers, until your conscious
neurons get a hold of them. Practice and learn to trust these solutions from
the darkness.
8.
Maintenance. Once you have
completed your 30 days of Innerstates, you must on a regular weekly and
monthly basis, practice preventative maintenance, so that the neuron
patterns do not get over-grown and impassable 9. Complete the Circle. You must prepare to complete the circle, finish the race, cross the finish-line. Get a good pit-crew! This is a marathon not a sprint!
Rules for

3. It must be in PRESENT tense.
4. Must be written in an
achieving manner.
5. Must not make comparisons.
6. Must use action words.
7. Must use words that trigger
emotion!
8. Must be VERY SPECIFIC! 9. Must be believable. (but not necessarily believed)
DIRECTIONS FOR
INNERSTATES SUCCESS! 1. Must be
outloud!(with feeling) 2. Must see
yourself say it! (mirror) 3. Three, four,
or five times per day! 4. Best at
different locations each time. 5. Must be 30
CONSECUTIVE days. (if you miss, restart) 6. Create
artificial emotions whenever possible. 7. You don't
have to believe it yet. 8. But: your
statement must be honest. 9. Visualize results daily.
If you want to form the proper neuron connections within your brain to develop the new neurode patterns that will create your highest levels of achievement and success, you must follow a plan and schedule. Here is what you have to do. It is an intense 90-100 day plan to Science-Based PERMANENT SELF-MOTIVATION! 1. From now on, anytime, everyday, anyplace, when someone asks you "How are you doing?" "How are you?", or any other such greeting or salutation, your answer MUST ALWAYS BE VERY POSITIVE! EVEN IF IT IS A LIE! Remember, we taught you that scientifically, you can lie your way to success, and creating new neuron patterns that turn this into reality! This is every day, every time, forever! Use the letters of the alphabet each day to set up your answers before you leave the house Some days I use the letter "F", for "fantastic!", "fabulous!", "frisky!", etc. 2. You must take inventory as in S4S Technique #1 for at least 5 days, preferably 7 days. And one of these days must be a weekend day. If you skip a day...start over! 3. You must spend 24-30 days on S4S Technique #2, stomping your ANTS and turning or channeling them into positive positives! This is absolutely key and essential! Remember, the brain needs about 30 days to create enough new connections to create a new habit! 4. AFTER your 30 days of Stomping your ANTS, you are ready to spend 3-7 days creating your dreams and goals, and creating IN WRITING (but not necessarily just words!) the specifics and deadlines for your long-term goals (5-10 year goals); your medium-term goals (1-5 year goals); and your short-term goals (1 day to 1 month to 1 year goals). 5. After formulating your goals, you are now ready for one of your most important 30 day periods in your life! You must now create and repeat your INNERSTATES (see our Systems and Tools for how these MUST BE FORMATTED!) Three to Five times per day for a period of 30 STRAIGHT days. You also must exactly follow the "Rules for Innerstates" that are taught and included in any of our Systems (see below) Note: This must be 30 STRAIGHT days. If you miss a day, start over! 6. You now must spend at least 21 days, "Turning on Your VCR", S4S Technique #6. This step or technique is VERY important if you are a business owner, or in a management position, or any career where problem-solving is a key part of your job. 7. Ok, you are now well on your way to transcendent success and your highest, greatest achievements through the use of neuroscience! Throughout ALL of these 90-100 days, you are also learning to "Trust the Darkness" as we teach you in S4S Technique #7. Further, if you carefully learn the maintenance levels necessary and learn to "Complete the Circle" and "planning your finish", you are guaranteed tremendous new levels of success, permanent self-motivation, and achievement.
