B.  SCIENCE OF SELF-MOTIVATION NEWS

                                 QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS!

Q.  I have worked on your course and think it will be a fantastic help for me.  I am writing some "Innerstates" and have a couple questions.  Can you only be working on one goal at a time?  Or, for 30 days, can you be working on three things?  Terry L.  Los Angeles, California

 A.      Great question!  Years ago, when I was doing physiology research at the University of Toledo, we did some investigating into the effects of bombarding the RAS of the brain with huge amounts of auditory stimuli to see if it would reduce the recognition of pain stimuli within the brain.  Short Answer: Yes it did.

Therefore, the fewer, more focused your Innerstates, the quicker and longer lasting will be the new connections in your brain to generate solutions and actions for those Innerstates.  How many is too many at a time?  I don't know.  Experiment.  But I think over 3 would be diminishing the effectiveness of your efforts.

Q.   Since your text-manual is not available separately and right now I can't afford your Systems, could you recommend a couple of books I could be reading on the Subject of the science of permanent self-motivation?   D. Onjukka

A.   Yes!  First of all make sure you take advantage of ALL of OUR FREE learning tools.

1. Subscribe to our 2 times monthly Newsletter Possibilities! That always has current info on the science of self-motivation.

 2.  Be sure to take and read ALL of the 7 MiniScience Lessons for Success.  That also is FREE and is the foundation of our Systems for Success and Achievement.

3.  Read the 2 FREE Reports that we sent to you: Revolutionary Neuroscience Discovers for Success and Willpower is Overrated:  The Scientific Proof!

 4.  Make sure you have signed up and joined our FREE Introductory TeleSeminar that is scheduled every week.  You get to talk with me personally and we cover How to Use the Revolutionary Science Discoveries for Success. (You do pay your own long-distance charges)

5.  It is not free($30.00), but our Annotated Bibliography is like having 300 books in front of you...all highlighted and with notes already taken for you on the important parts!  What a time AND money saver!

 6.  We also have on the website an inexpensive Instant Seminar that gives you the "Top 25", the most important 25 books and research reports that can take you to high achievements.  This is very inexpensive at just $10.00 .And by the way, after you listen to the Top 25 Seminar, if you can guess my favorite 5 of the Top 25, you can win ALL of our systems and Tools!  And I'm about to give you a big hint!

7.  The best two books to read first are THE NEW BRAIN by Dr. Richard Restak and CHANGE YOUR BRAIN, CHANGE YOUR LIFE! by Dr. Daniel Amen

Q.   Doug, I just finished one of your free teleseminars and again listened to my CDs of your Weight Control System Seminar I attended a few months ago. (I have lost 20 lbs. using your system!)  But I am struggling with the inter-relationship between the Innerstates and the VCR (visualization) technique. It is easy for me to visualize myself in a size 10 (my goal) and easy to visualize myself as a success at my other goals, but it is difficult to write an Innerstate to begin the process.  Gerrie S. Oregon USA

A.   Thanks for your questions.  Visualization is a technique I use for Science for Success Techniques # 6, 8, and 9 (S4ST)  To me, visualization is a chance to sit down , at a quiet time and create in my mind a mental picture of what it is like after iI have obatined my current top priority goal or goals...

This is a process using neuron stimulation to grow new DSPs to help you become more imaginative, creative and a better problem solver. (S4ST #6)  As you know, the scientists have said that most of us (about 90 %) have lost the neuron connections for imagination by the time we are 40.  They have atrophied and disconnected.  But you can get them back (new ones)!

Also visualization exercises can be used to "maintain" (S4ST #8) and keep your goal (dream) neuron connections "live" and firing.  For S4ST #9 it serves to help you see and generate new goals for what life will be like after you reach your initial primary goals (Too many times people "fail" because they do not prepare for their needs when they DO succeed.)

Innerstates create DSP connections much more powerfully.  They are not just thoughts.  These are spoken out loud!  Preferably in front of a mirror (to generate emotion..see Motivation Automation System for details) I also repeatedly write down my Innerstates.  Sometimes 100 times in a row.  Sometimes with the wrong hand, to generate even more DSP connections.  With Innerstates you are using more of your sensory inputs to stimulate this DSP growth (sight, sound, touch) and this leads to better and longer lasting DSP connections (which equals automatic persistence!)

If you are having trouble coming up with positive-positive Innerstates for your goals, how about coming up with an Innerstate for coming up with an Innerstate!!

"I have reached all my goals, because I can quickly formulate wonderful Innerstates to lead me to my goals!"

Special note to Freda:  Change your Innerstate!  If you say "I will not take any second helpings!", what your nonconscious brain sees is a picture of "I  take second helpings!"

That would be disastrous!  How about:  "I am fit and thin because I eat one helping of healthy foods per meal!"

Q.  On one of your CDs in the MOTIVATION AUTOMATION System , under S4ST # 2 STOMPING THE ANTZ, you speak of being careful not to just stop or squelch the negative thoughts.  That you must finish them as a positive.  Because if we just stop them it will be "toxic"  I am wondering what 'toxic' means in this context?  Toxic in what way?

A.        Great question and very close to being beyond the scope of my ability to answer.  But as I understand it, (and maybe some of you, our readers would like to comment on this one!) it is very similar to when we hold in emotions rather than letting everything out.  This can build up toxic stress which can ultimately lead to many many different ill-health manisfestations.  Stress hormones (as ordered to be released by the amygdala in the brain) need to be dissipated, flushed, or used up within our systems.  Otherwise the waste will become toxic.  Certainly this is hard to recognize at a conscious level since a mere negative thought stopped is not as large a problem as say holding in your anger for a spousal affair, or your grief from the loss of a loved one.  But over time these small toxic releases can build up in huge amounts.  Especially when you take your inventory (S4ST #1) and find out that on average, your negative thoughts are about 80% of all thoughts!

Q.    Hi Doug!  Another quick question.  In your opinion what do you think of the products of the Anthony Robbins, Jim Rohn's, and Zig Ziglar's of the world?  Are they worth investing in, since you think science is the answer?  Steve M.  Wisconsin USA

A.    I love to listen to Zig Ziglar!  And I do have some of Jim Rohn's stuff.  I am not much of a follower of Tony Robbins, he seems to whine too much for me.  But I am sometimes overwhelmed by his limitless absolutely contagious enthusiasm!

Yes their stuff is very good.  However, you have to read, hear, and learn from it by applying the scientific facts.  You now scientifically know that it takes 20-30 days for enough DSP connections to be formed when we are learning something new, to get it permanently onto our RAS's "Important List"

If you go to a one day Tony Robbins Seminar (as I have done) there is no way you can come away from that without being totally pumped up and motivated.  However, it is a physiological FACT OF SCIENCE, that unless you go every day for 20-30 days, that "flash" motivation will die within hours or a few days.  For some by the time they get to the parking lot.

The whole of the self-improvement industry has some form of reference to the workings of the brain even though most may couch it in worn out phrases and rehashed protocol (pop-psych voo-doo).  Our systems cover all of the scientific aspects and at a fraction of the cost of the great gurus, even though admittedly Tony and others are maybe more imposing and visual.

Because our brain has programmed us to resist change, (which is such hard work anyway) sometimes the entertainment aspects of self-improvement makes good dollars and sense for it's practitioners.

But for those who really want to know the possibilities of their potential and progress and claim the responsibility for putting knowledge into action, absorb all of our material you can!

And then do both!  Use our Systems to show you the 'how' and 'why' and to create the PERMANENT neuron connections in your automatic self-motivation machine called your nonconscious brain; and use their stuff to to start the motor!   [Our thanks to our subscriber Russell James from Australia, whose input was also used in this answer.]

That's it for this issue.  HOWEVER, we have many more questions to come.  So keep them coming in!

2 F un Questions

Here's two last questions that I received that I have no way to answer ...yet.  Send me your emails and tell me what YOU think!  It is a big WOW!

Q.  Doug, if the brain sees in pictures as you say,  what does someone see who has been blind since birth??  HELP!!  Send me your input!  Doug@scienceforsuccess.com

Q.  If a farmer has $100.00 to spend on animals and he must buy some of each animal, and must spend exactly $100.00 and he must buy exactly 100 animals, how many of each must he buy if Cows are $5.00 each, pigs$3.00 each, and chickens $0.50 each???

C.  BOOK REVIEW

Each month we will review one or more of the books and/or research articles and studies that we have read. All of these books will have been published in just the last few years, since about 95% of what science now knows about the brain has been discovered in just the last 4-5 years! We will rate these books on a scale of 0-10 with ten meaning DON'T MISS IT! and 0 meaning DON'T TOUCH IT! All opinions will relate only to the book's quality and functionality as it relates to the FOCUS and MISSION STATEMENT of Science for Success Systems (see our website)

Our Book this Month:  "BLINK"
